At the beginning of the 19th century, Manuel Pedro Guimaraens bought the Fonseca & Monteiro Company of Porto.
It is run by the chief winemaker David Guimaraens, who belongs to the sixth generation of the family who has always been in the wine sector. In recent years, Fonseca's Vintage Ports have achieved considerable success as well as numerous international awards. Much of their fruit comes from Quinta do Panascal and Quinta do Val Muros.
Late Bottled Vintage indicates a port of a specific year aged in cask for a certain number of years prior to bottling. When labeled unfiltered, as in this case, they need to be decanted before serving as they may contain sediment. With an exceptional body they denote intensity, depth and an impressive complexity.
