Black Tot Rum
On July 31, 1970, the age-old tradition of daily rum rations in the Navy came to an end. This day has become known as Black Tot Day. However, the history of the marketing of Black Tot rum began only in the third millennium, when a package of bottles containing the traditional Navy rums - originating from Jamaica, Guyana and Barbados - was discovered in shipyards in the UK. For over forty years this rum had hardly been touched. It is therefore a historic rum, bottled and released in 2011 as a tribute. Today the new rum called Black Tot is a tribute to that moment, that change. However, this rum is a contemporary creation: taking the traditional Caribbean-style rum, the recipe for a complex, pleasant rum has been created, for a repeatable tasting experience.
