Pusser's
To prepare for battle, the iron-willed sailors in their wooden ships drank Pusser's Rum for strength. A distillate that is the original Royal Navy, that is the rum that from 1655 to 1970 the British Navy administered daily to its personnel. Rums suitable for this purpose were called Navy or Pusser which derives from "Purser", i.e. the person in charge of the daily administration of Rum, commonly called "tot".
The tradition is over today, but the traditional recipe of this Rum was taken over in 1979 by former naval officer Charles Tobias, and put back on the market under the name of Pusser's.
Aged for a minimum of three years in toasted oak barrels, Pusser's is a full-bodied rum, surprisingly round, characteristics due to its double distillation in a wooden still: the Port Mourant Pot Still, the only wooden still from the 1800s in operation for the rums. A Rum that comes from Guyana and is completely natural, without added flavors or colourings, the result of a perfectly balanced blend.
The molasses comes from sugar cane from the Demerara Valley, a valley that has more than 300 sugar cane producers and which is commonly called "the Valley of Navy Rums".
