Tenuta San Guido
In a word: Bolgheri!
In fact, one cannot speak of this area without referring to the work of Mario Incisa della Rocchetta and the legendary Tenuta San Guido. Before him, in fact, even on the coast not far from Livorno, the grapes grown were those typical of the region, with Sangiovese above all. Mario Incisa della Rocchetta, however, had an intuition and was the first to produce a Bordeaux wine, therefore based on Cabernet, on Italian soil. He was convinced, and with hindsight we can say he was right, that the Bolgheri area bore a clear resemblance to the Graves area. Thus it was that in 1968 Sassicaia was born. Success came immediately and continues today more than ever!
