Barbancourt

In 1862, Dupré Barbancourt began to apply the traditional production method native to Cognac, the region from which he came – which includes double distillation and aging in French oak – to distill the sugar cane of the house that had adopted it: Haiti.
Exactly 160 years and five generations later, these methods are still used to produce an extraordinary rum in the family distillery founded by Duprè, today considered an institution on the island. (Indeed, the traditional method of making Rhum Barbancourt has been in the Haitian Cultural Heritage Registry since 2021).
With 120 hectares planted with cane sugar where more than 3,000 growers work, Barbancourt today gives life to an aromatic hybrid variety that distinguishes its portfolio of expressions which include the 5 Star Reserve Speciale. Developed by the founder himself, it was called "La Goutte d'Or" (The Golden Drop).
