Glenfiddich
The name "Glen-Fiddich" comes from the Gaelic Valley of the Deer, a stone's throw from Dufftown, in the heart of Speyside. It is precisely here that William Grant was able to realize his dream of producing the best dram of whiskey in the valley. With the help of the whole family, he managed to build by hand, stone by stone, the distillery he wanted, family-run since 1887. Today, thanks to the vision of Charles Gordon, great-grandson of the founder William Grant, the single malt scotch whiskey has become more and more recognized than the equally popular blended whisky. In 1988 single malt scotch whiskey was protected and regulated by an official act of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth. in the "Scotch Whiskey Act" of 1988 the rules of the entire production process are defined.
Glenfiddich has been experimenting with the new frontiers of the world of whiskey for many years. Each new expression is inspired by the pioneering mind of Charles Gordon and his ancestors, it was David Stewart who played with new forms of finishes already many years ago. And in recent years, Brian Kinsman, Glenfiddich's current malt master, continues this tradition of experimentation. Glenfiddich has several hundreds of thousands of aging barrels, casks of different origins, sizes and types, some of them are left to age for a very long time and only the best ones are chosen for the oldest expressions and for the most important selections, dedicated to true enthusiasts and collectors.
