White Wines
Over the years the culture of white wine in Italy has grown a lot. Gone are the times when white wine was considered a "minor" wine to be consumed young. Today we are able to fully appreciate the potential of vines and terroirs.
Much in the types of white wine has to do with the grape variety. And white wines are initially divided into aromatic and semi-aromatic or neutral wines. Aromatic and semi-aromatic wines, as the word itself indicates, are perfumed and intense wines in which the character of the grape is easily recognizable. The most common vines are the aromatic Gewurtztraminer, Malvasia and Moscato and the semi-aromatic Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Prosecco and Riesling. In neutrals the wine is more evanescent and austere but no less fascinating for this. Among the most important neutral vines we mention Fiano, Greco and Trebbiano.
