Montevertine

It was 1967 when Sergio Manetti bought Montevertine and planted the first vineyard. Thanks to his intuitions and the precious help of Giulio Gambelli, he started a splendid story, which has seen a constant growth of reputation and wines that have established themselves firmly in the Olympus of the international wine scene.

Mortevertine is one of the best excellences of the Chianti area. The winery takes its name from a locality located near Radda. The estate was purchased in the late 1960s by Sergio Manetti as a country house in which to produce some wine to share with friends. The first bottles saw the light in 1971 and the wine was immediately much appreciated, so as to convince Sergio to continue on this path. Within a few years, the winery became famous among enthusiasts, new vineyards were planted and a modern cellar was built. Since then the quality of Montevertine wines has continued to grow, to the point of being considered one of the spearheads of Sangiovese di Toscana. Today the cellar is managed by Sergio Manetti's son, Martino, who continues his father's work with passion and competence.
