L'Archetipo

Archetipo is a farm located in Castellaneta, at the foot of the Bari Murgia, not far from Altamura. It was founded by Francesco Valentino Dibenedetto, a farmer from birth, who later also became an agronomist. As early as the 1980s, he began converting the farm to organic farming, moving on to biodynamic practices in 2000. After a few years he realizes that there is still something that prevents a return to the archetypal situation of the soil, the ecosystem, therefore also the vineyard. Inspired by the non-interventionist practices of Masanobu Fukuoka, in which the synergies between all the links of the ecosystem are triggered, he turns to synergistic agriculture, for which, among other things, plowing is no longer practiced.
He embarks on this new adventure with his wife Anna Maria and his four children, Carlo Nazareno, Domenico, Andrea and Maria Clelia. They cultivate 50 hectares of land, 30 of which are devoted to vineyards. In these precise climatic conditions, it is possible to make the most of the prized estate-grown grapes without the use of synthetic chemicals, cultivating native vines such as Primitivo, Aglianico, Negroamaro, Fiano and Greco and rediscovering now-forgotten varieties such as Maresco, Marchione and Susumaniello.
In the winery, built entirely of tuff, the primary goal is to leave the taste, aroma and color of the fruit unchanged; fermentations take place exclusively by means of indigenous yeasts and no filtrations take place. The result is synergistic and pure wines.
