White Elephant

The brand was born as a small and independent manufacturer of briar pipes in Bavaria, Germany, in 1945, under the leadership of the German pipemaker Robert Paderholz, and then passed to his son Michael in 1984.

Michael soon developed the first automated facilities for the production of filters and shortly after began using sea foam imported from Tanzania for stove coatings which, in addition to inspiring the name White Elephant, became an alternative to the more common activated carbon.
