Rhum Rhum
It all started when I managed to bring Gianni Capovilla to Marie-Galante, with the excuse of a week's vacation together. Right away, Gianni fell in love with Marie-Galante.
Rhum Rhum was born from Luca Gargano's desire to produce a great rum, like the original ones of the past. The project starts from the island of Marie-Galante. The stills were designed by the master distiller Gianni Vittorio Capovilla and made in the German Müller workshops. Processing starts from the virgin juice of sugar cane grown on the island's soil. Rhum Rhum brings all the production variables to the highest level, in a continuous succession of studies and experiments. Awarded as the best agricultural rum in the world by Whiskey Magazine, the most authoritative European magazine on distillates, Rhum Rhum is the pure philosophy of bottled distilled rum, as its name suggests.
The production of Rhum Rhum starts from the natural cultivation of sugar cane, with the use of canne rouge and B47.259, varieties that have almost completely disappeared in the Antilles. Transportation to the distillery is strictly with "cabrouettes" pulled by bulls. The production process does not foresee the minimum dilution and no addition of chemical agents, acidifiers, additives. The long fermentations of 5/6 days at a controlled temperature precede the double distillation in the bain-marie copper stills, all under the supervision of the great master distiller Gianni Vittorio Capovilla.
