This Pinot Grigio Grand Cru Gloeckelberg is a full-bodied and balanced wine, with a golden yellow color. On the nose it develops the typical smoky notes of Pinot Grigio. There are also hints of dried apricots and a honeyed sweetness. On the palate, it surprises with its decisive attack and frankness. A well-balanced wine, with an opulent sweet note. The taste is persistent and enhanced by a refreshing citrus note. This Pinot Grigio Grand Cru Gloeckelberg goes well with foie gras, accompanied by a mango and apricot chutney that adds a touch of acidity. It also goes well with game or roast meats. A pleasant accompaniment to duck à l'orange or a fruity cheese.

To explain the survival of the Pinot Gris cultivation in the Alsatian vineyards since the 16th century, legend has it that the plants were brought from the city of Tokaj (Hungary) by Baron Lazare Schwendi around 1565. The baron, who at the time served the House of Austria in its fight against the Turks, was a large owner of vineyards in Alsace and Baden. Landowner in Kientzheim (where his castle still stands, today owned by the Brotherhood of Saint-Étienne), he ordered them to multiply the Tokaj vines. But it is likely that Pinot Gris, known for its qualities and ability to produce highly concentrated wines, replaced the original variety brought from Hungary. In fact, Pinot Gris comes from Burgundy, where it is known as "Beurot".
