The Armagnac Aurian Xmas Edition 1986 Wu Dram Clan was produced in 1986 by an unknown domaine from 80% Baco and 20% Ugni Blanc grapes in Bas Armagnac, France. It was matured for 35 years in barrel 33 in a wet warehouse and was bottled in 2022 (11/2022) by Maison Aurian exclusively for Wu Dram Clan at an alcohol content of 50.80%. An Alambic Armagnacais column still was used for the distillation without any additives.
Wu Dram Clan writes about Aurian 1986 #33: "In July 2022, we were able to taste the deep cellars of the Aurian house in Condom and came across Barrel No. 33, a 1986 Bas-Armagnac with a robust 50.8% vol., from the small but renowned village of Le Frêche. This region is characterized by a deep bouquet and a wonderful body. Rich red berries and a balanced power between wood and distillate.
On the nose, its large woody body immediately stands out, which slowly fades, leaving room for the red berries, honey, black pepper and cocoa to unfold. On the palate, the compact power of Gascony emerges, with a light acidity that gradually gives way to wood, apricot dry, wild pepper, ginger, tobacco and sandalwood.
