Distilled on Islay, a small island off the west coast of Scotland known for its peated whisky, this lightly smoky, fruity spirit is perfect for ageing in traditional whisky casks, revealing its richness and complexity. Gentle peat smoke forms the basis of this Islay single malt, giving way to fruity notes of green orchard fruit and the sweetness of green melon. A hint of malted barley adds depth, while dry, earthy tones evoke the spirit of the island. The finish is smooth and lingering, with the smokiness fading into a trail of fruity sweetness and dry earth. This Classic Islay is a story in a glass, transporting us to a specific time and place: standing by a crackling campfire on the coast, with the sea air blowing off the water, wrapped up in my favourite warm jumper. Nothing captures the flavour of a place quite like Islay whisky, of which this expression is a prime example. With its rich, iconic smoke, honeyed fruit and biscuity malt, it embodies the Islay style in its purest form.
