Following the year's tradition, this expression has been matured in a series of Jerez oak casks crossed with hand-picked sherries and boasts all the deliciously fruity and spicy character that makes The Macallan whiskeys so special.

The nose is an explosion of dried fruit and ginger with hints of vanilla and cinnamon.

On the palate it is soft and rich with hints of spices, cloves, orange and toasted mature oak, giving a lingering finish with dried fruit, ginger and orange peel.

This 18-year-old release was the first to debut a new packaging style since 2006, when the longstanding glossy purple box was retired the previous year. This has now joined the classic 12 year old expression as part of the Sherry Oak Cask strain from the Macallan core range. As of 2016, the Macallan 18 Year has opted to indicate the year of release rather than the vintage of the whiskey on its label.
