This Armagnac was produced in 2004 by Domaine Séailles from organically grown Ugni Blanc grapes in Armagnac Ténarèze, France.
It is matured for 18 years in cask 54 in a dry warehouse and was bottled by Grape of the Art in 2023 (04/2023) at 53.9% cask strength. An Alambic Armagnacais (column still) was used for the distillation.
On the nose we immediately perceive a symphony of rich and sweet notes of molasses and caramel. These are punctuated with a vibrant hint of bergamot oil, which seems to introduce a citrus freshness that counterbalances the intense sweetness. This is followed by subtler nuances of raisin and black tea, whose rich dried fruit sweetness and tannic edge add depth and complexity to the aroma package.
On the palate, the experience develops further with the sweetness of caramel and wine gum blending perfectly with the molasses. It's all broken up by a refreshing splash of orange peel, whose citrus and spicy notes cut through the sweetness and add a sophisticated layer to the flavor profile. The final impression is one of balance and complexity, but with great personality. An elaboration that winks at the numerous "Rum Lovers".
