Monaco Distillery
Founded in 2017 in the heart of the elegant Condamine neighborhood, La Distillerie de Monaco is the Principality’s first and only distillery. Long before luxury tourism, yachts, and the Grand Prix, Monaco’s economy was largely based on the cultivation of citrus and Mediterranean fruits. The distillery’s stated goal is to capture the authentic flavors and aromas of this terroir in every bottle, using the highest-quality raw materials combined with strictly artisanal methods. The Distillerie de Monaco’s first customers were the region’s most prestigious hotels, restaurants, bars, and independent shops, but the distillery is increasingly expanding its reach into foreign markets as well.
Raw materials are the Distillerie de Monaco’s greatest strength: the fruits are grown naturally, with full respect for nature and the local environment, and without pesticides. The three products created so far are: Gin aux Agrumes, a blend of local, untreated bitter and sweet oranges, Menton lemons, fresh ginger, Sichuan pepper, and lemon thyme, in addition, of course, to juniper berries; L’Orangerie, a premium liqueur made from the bitter oranges that line the avenues of the Principality, whose aroma is extracted and processed by hand; Carruba, a liqueur whose main ingredient comes from Monaco’s national tree; the carob pods are roasted and macerated by hand to extract the best of their complex aromas. All three liqueurs are made without preservatives or any artificial ingredients.
