Telling the story of Scotland's world-famous Hogmanay festivities celebrated every year on December 31st, A Night on Earth in Scotland captures the universal joy of celebrating the turn of the year.
This seasonal release is a collaboration with acclaimed Japanese-French illustrator Erica Dorn, whose artwork has appeared in director Wes Anderson's films.
The single malt is presented in unique packaging to provide a special unboxing experience and Dorn's playful abstract illustrations are inspired by the historic fire rituals dominant in New Year celebrations around the world.
Red is a color synonymous with Macallan's story, it is the color of fire, of warmth, but also of good luck, success, happiness and vitality.
Opening the box reveals a blue interior, representing the night skies of Hogmanay (New Year) and the blue of Scotland's national flag, the Saltire.
When the presentation box is opened, the bottle is surrounded by rich amber colors, which sparkle like the opening of a gold casket. This represents Scottish shortbread, a rich and sweet cookie consumed at Hogmanay, which is also featured in the whiskey notes.
A Night on Earth in Scotland is created from a selection of The Macallan's exceptional seasoned American and European oak sherry barrels, along with American ex-bourbon barrels to provide its rich and sweet shortbread character. A whiskey that references the rich Scottish delicacy traditionally given and eaten in Hogmanay, punctuated by notes of dried orange and spices.
A piece of unrivaled beauty!
