The barley used is malted in Port Ellen, the stills are much larger than those at other distilleries on Islay and are only half filled to allow more contact between the alcohol vapor and the copper. Because of this, Caol Ila's expressions are much less peaty than other Islay malts, with a subtle smoky character. 

A rich malt, an authentic expression of the infamous distillery.It combines the typical notes of Islay's iconic whiskey with the sweeter notes of its aging, with hints of vanilla, cinnamon and salted caramel.
