The Pure Single Rum Habitation Velier Hampden 2019 LROK is a blend of 9 Ex-Sherry Lustau casks, both Pedro Jiménez and Oloroso. Bottled at high proof after a tropical aging of 5 years, it has an ester content of 292.20 gr/hlpa, as expected from its mark (LROK stands for Light Rum Owen Kelly). The Angels' Share is > 34%. Complex, deep and very mature, this rum has a broad and inebriating nose, rich in cocoa, licorice, cedar, lichen and laurel, which gradually fades into hints of citrus, apricot, sandalwood and nail polish. The palate is dense , rich in autumnal notes that evolve into a pleasant herbaceous bitterness. The finish is persistent, with a chocolate character that becomes empyreumatic, confirming itself as a textbook Hampden.
