Scottish single malt whisky, Ben Nevis 2014 peaty, matured in Hogshead casks, Single Cask, Cask Strength 57.7% for a total production of 260 bottles.

A whisky of remarkable depth, where floral sweetness meets wood warmth, slight smokiness and subtle richness. Complex and full-bodied, it offers a real sensory journey, to be savored slowly to fully appreciate its nuances.

On the nose there is a subtle birch smoke, carried by a creamy sweetness of melted honey on still-warm brioche. Flowers merge with this: honeysuckle, lavender, hyacinth, supported by a resinous hint of spruce. With time, the aromas gain depth: rich vanilla, lightly roasted hazelnuts, brandy peaches, slivers of milk chocolate and blond caramel. A note of chocolate-covered honey, almost dark, mingles with red licorice and smoking beeswax candles. In the background, a darker note emerges: soft leather, new rubber, shoelaces fresh out of the box. A rich, layered nose that unfolds layer by layer.

On the palate, the attack is soft but deep, with dense, bright lavender honey. Darker nuances emerge quickly: leather, licorice, light pipe smoke, cherry pipe tobacco. Then wood takes center stage: solid oak, a worn refectory table, warm spices, cloves, cardamom, nutmeg. Indulgence follows naturally: caramel bar, crème caramel, white chocolate chips, subtle pistachio sweetness. The texture is broad and round, supported by a remarkable balance of floral sweetness, smoke, wood and spice.

The finish is long, warm and enveloping. The spices return - cloves, cardamom, cinnamon - melding with rich vanilla cream and a veil of warm honey. Hints of toasted wood and wax prolong the sensation into a finish that seems to stretch on forever.
