The Malternative Belgium Cognac No. 35 is an exceptional bottling made in collaboration with Grosperrin, with the legacy of André Bertandeau. This limited edition Cognac comes from a single barrel (Lot 71), sourced exclusively from the renowned Petite Champagne cru. Bottled at cask strength (52.9% ABV), only 323 bottles were produced, making it a rare and highly collectible expression. The story of André Bertandeau is one of resilience and dedication. Deported to Buchenwald concentration camp in 1942 at just 20 years old, he survived harrowing conditions before being liberated in 1945. Despite the horrors of war, Bertandeau returned to his vineyards in Salignac-Sur-Charente, where he dedicated his life to helping others, donating the modest profits from his estate to charities such as Médecins du Monde and Action contre la Faim. After his passing in 2016, his legacy continues to live on through this special barrel discovered in the Grosperrin cellars.

This Cognac is not only a tribute to Bertandeau's extraordinary life, but also a way to give back. A portion of the proceeds from the sale of these bottles will be donated to organizations that support people affected by war, poverty and hardship. The label, titled *La Bonne Cause*, depicts Bertandeau returning home to his vineyards, a symbol of solidarity and community. On the nose, this Cognac reveals layers of polished wood, vibrant blood oranges and the floral touch of jasmine, highlighted by freshly baked bread with plum jam. The palate explodes with juicy nectarines, ripe mango and dried pineapple, all supported by a solid, full-bodied structure. The finish is long and complex, with recurring notes of candied fruit, leather and floor wax, woven into a rich tapestry of spices.

This exclusive release is presented in an elegant bottle that reflects its exceptional quality. The label, which features the phrase *La Bonne Cause*, honors the life and legacy of André Bertandeau, underlining his commitment to charity and support for those in need. Enjoy it neat to fully appreciate its rich aromatic profile and complexity. This Cognac pairs beautifully with fine cheeses or dark chocolate, enhancing its deep notes of fruit and spices. To the eye it has a deep amber color with golden reflections. On the olfactory evaluation it immediately gives notes of beautifully polished wood, fresh blood oranges, green tea and delicate jasmine leaves, accompanied by hints of baked bread spread with plum jam. On the palate the fruit flavors take center stage with notes of nectarines, ripe mango and dried pineapple. Full-bodied and rich, with a satisfying texture. Exceptionally long, with layers of candied fruit, leather and floor wax. A complex blend of spices adds depth, all perfectly integrated.
