Surrounded by its own sugar cane plantations, the Mhoba Artisan Distillery is located in the hills of the Onderberg district of Mpulamanga, South Africa.
Unlike most traditional rums, which are made from molasses from refined sugar production, Mhoba rum is made from pure local sugar cane juice, Nkomazi variety, and contains no artificial additives, colors or flavors. The entire production process takes place within the property, from the cultivation of organic sugar cane to the labeling of the bottles.
Distillation is done by Robert Greaves in self-produced high reflux Pot Still. Aging takes place in ex-French oak red wine barrels.
