Antinori's Tignanello 2019 comes from the vineyard of the same name of the historic Tenuta Tignanello in San Casciano in Val di Pesa. The land is characterized by the strong presence of limestone and tuffaceous elements, located at an altitude between 350 and 400 meters above sea level. The composition of the blend has remained unchanged since 1982: Sangiovese with a small part of Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon.
The refinement took place for 14-16 months in French and Hungarian oak barrels, partly new and partly second passage, with a further 12 months of rest in the bottle. We are facing a legendary wine that cannot be missing in the cellar of every connoisseur. In fact, Tignanello, in addition to enjoying international fame, holds a series of important records: it was the first Sangiovese to be aged in barriques, as well as the first modern red to be blended with non-traditional vines such as Cabernet. Finally, it was among the first reds of the Chianti Classico not to include the use of white grapes.
