The Caroni 1998 17 yr 110 ° proof is an extremely limited edition by Velier released in 2016.
Production begins in the Caroni Distillery in February 1998 (now the distillery closed at the behest of the Trinidad government) and then aged in Trinidad until 22 September 2015.
Bottling takes place in Scotland in the following November, for a product that is already a "legend".
It looks like an amber rum but darker and more intense than 12 and 15 y.o., the nose denotes very strong smoky scents, sweet notes of dried red fruit and orange peel accompanied by an enveloping spicy and vanilla note.
The rich, intense and round flavor, important in the body and in alcohol, is very rich and satisfying as well as infinitely long with slightly peaty tones.
