It is a vine that has ancient origins, in fact it is thought that the primitive strains of Spanish origin were introduced into Molise towards the end of the 18th century during the Bourbon occupation. The name Tintilia appears for the first time in a manuscript of the Agricultural Society of Campobasso in 1810. Only recently, thanks to research on genetic biodiversity, conducted by the University of Molise, has it been demonstrated that Tintilia is a unique vine present only in this region. In our “Lame del Sorbo” lands, Tintilia had been cultivated for over 80 years. Little-known native vine with small, sparse bunches rich in anthocyanins, with medium and not too hard tannins.
