Poggio al Tesoro's Bolgheri Superiore Sondraia is born in vineyards that extend along via Bolgherese and via Le Sondraie, in the heart of the renowned Bolgheri DOC.
It is mainly produced with Cabernet Sauvignon grapes and with Merlot and Cabernet Franc grapes, harvested exclusively by hand in the second half of September. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature of 28-30 ° C for a duration of 12 days. After malolactic fermentation in barriques at a temperature of 22 ° C, the wine ages for 18 months in partly new French oak barrels from Allier.
Ruby red in color, it opens on the nose with a complex bouquet of aromatic herbs, enriched by strong fruity notes of blackberry, cherry and plum. On the palate a fresh balsamic trace is recognized that gives a fresh, harmonious and silky sip.
Perfect in combination with grilled meats, including Chianina and spit and roast cooking, this red from Bolgheri is perfect with medium-aged cheeses and smoked ricotta.
