Produced from 100% Weber Azul tequila agave. The agaves used to produce Tapatio Familia G. Reserva Extra Añejo come entirely from family-owned plantations, 21 ranchos located in the Arandas area and the nearby town of Jesus María, in the heart of the Jalisco highlands. Tapatio is one of the very few tequila distilleries still producing according to the traditional method. The agaves are harvested by expert jimadores who have worked for the Camarena family for more than a generation, cut directly in the fields, and transported to the distillery for cooking. Cooking still takes place slowly in traditional clay brick ovens. Once cooked, the agaves move on to the milling stage. The process takes place in a traditional stone tahona, the only concession being the use of a tractor instead of a mule.
