The name "448 s.l.m." indicates the geographical positioning of the historic farm of the Girlan Winery, which is located on 448 m altitude. Vernatsch grapes come from various vineyards in our production area. Here, the soils are rich in minerals, formed from sediments from the Ice Age.
Harvesting is done manually in small containers for transport to the winery. The grapes are destemmed and fermented at a controlled temperature in stainless steel vats. Extended maceration gives more intense color and tannin extraction. While malolactic fermentation takes place in steel vats, aging is done in concrete tanks.
Vernatsch is the historic grape variety of Cornaiano. The wine is velvety, soft and elegant. The aromas are reminiscent of violets and almonds. It is a very versatile red wine for the entire meal.
