The Hampden 1753 is the new release named after the year the Jamaican distillery was founded and joins its permanent range.
1753 is not just a date engraved at the entrance to Hampden Estate, but the very symbol of almost three centuries of its history and tradition. It is to this heritage that the new release of the historic Jamaican distillery pays homage, celebrating its roots. Hampden 1753 joins the permanent range of official bottlings as an invitation to explore its unique aromatic universe, an ideal introduction for those who want to discover the style of its rums.
Aged for 3 years in ex-bourbon barrels, this rum stands out for its complexity and rich ester profile, two typical Hampden traits. However, thanks to an ABV of 46%, it also remains accessible and versatile, perfect for enjoying neat or mixed.
The rum respects the traditional methods that have made the distillery in the Trelawny region famous, historically recognized as the home of the best Jamaican rums. Each phase of production is meticulously managed: from the use of water from the spring in the heart of Cockpit Country, a few kilometers from the distillery, to the long fermentation with indigenous natural yeasts.
The soul of Hampden lies precisely in its natural and spontaneous fermentations; the same microorganisms have reproduced here for centuries, as well as the secrets and recipes that have been handed down through the generations. The distillation, lasting about seven hours, takes place in "double retort" copper pot stills. The aging takes place in the distillery's warehouses, in the tropical climate of Jamaica. Finally, like every other Hampden, 1753 is also produced without the addition of sugars or colorants, respecting the tradition and authenticity that a great distillate must have.
